New Species of Anaconda of Largest Size Found

Recently, there was a news report about the discovery of a new species of anaconda.

A new species of anaconda, the world's largest snake, has been found in a rainforest in the Amazon region of Ecuador in South America.

The new species is classified as "Eunectes Akikayama," which is about 6.1 meters long and weighs about 200 kilograms.

The species is about 5.5% genetically different from the previously known green anaconda, and the two species are estimated to have split from each other nearly 10 million years ago.

What's anaconda?

Anaconda is a type of boa snake that lives in rainforests such as the Amazon in South America.

For green anaconda, the individual is up to 10 m long and weighs about 200 kg.

It is a large aquatic snake found in Central and South America, and belongs to the genus Titanoboa in the snake family.

They are carnivorous and feed on a variety of foods, including fish, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and some mammals.

Their predators include jaguars, large otters, and harpy eagles.

Anaconda has excellent swimming and diving abilities, allowing you to hunt in the water or travel far away.

They developed camouflage to harmonize with their surroundings and represent different colors and patterns depending on the region.

Previously known species of anaconda were classified as green anaconda, yellow anaconda, and Bolivian anaconda, but now a new subspecies of green anaconda has been discovered.

Snake? Pythons?

In Korea, large, poisonous animals are often regarded as pythons rather than snakes.

Last July, a one-meter-long snake was found in Taebaek, Gangwon Province, Korea, making headlines by speculating, "Isn't it an abandoned pet anaconda?"

News 1 reported a photo of a giant snake taken near the Jangseong Mining Company in Jangseong-dong, which appears to be several meters long with its branches wrapped around it.

However, the snake is suspected to be a python and is currently on a large scale.

Mr. A, who took the picture, claimed that the snake was about 8 meters long.
Then it's not a small snake, it's a boa snake, right?

Anyway, in Asia, I think most big people are pythons, but anaconda is really a regular snake.

As mentioned above, anaconda belongs to the genus of snake order, boaidae, and anaconda.
In short, anaconda is an aquatic snake of a large boa snake species.

Unlike the images depicted in movies or horror content, anaconda is not an aggressive species, but it is not found in Korea and other Asia anyway.
